Welcome to the first of hopefully many monthly Head of School updates. First of all, I would like to extend a huge thank you to all of you; staff, students and families, for making me feel so welcome since I took over in September. It has been a pleasure getting to know (and feeling a part of!) the Meadows Family.
Since September, students have participated in many events and trips out:
- All classes have been on the Beatrice Barge
- We said ‘Hello Yellow’ for World Mental Health Day
- We sent a team to the hockey tournament at Biddulph and they came second.
- We created beautiful pumpkin artwork for Halloween, and Hollie from Class PH was a deserving winner of a special prize (I am just glad I didn’t have to choose the winner as they were all so brilliant!)
- We gave out awards for TT Rockstars
- Outdoor education is in full swing, with Forest School, Duke of Edinburgh and Gardening all happening
This week we mark both Remembrance and also Anti-Bullying Week. All classes have been producing some beautiful commemorative work for Remembrance and will honour the two minutes of silence in their groups. Tuesday 12th November sees Odd Socks Day, where we are all invited to wear odd socks to make a statement against bullying.
Looking ahead, we have two KS4 trips to the National Arboretum Museum at the end of the month, and our Christmas performances on 17th and 18th December from 10-12. There is also a pantomime visit planned on 4th December (oh yes there is!) – so all in all, a busy run-up to the festive season.
In other exciting news, The Meadows now has their very own therapy dog. Bramble and his human, Barry, will be visiting every Monday from 25th November. This is a wonderful opportunity for the students, and we are very grateful to Canine Concern and Barry for facilitating this.
