Supporting Every Learner- Dyslexia
At The Meadows School, we are proud to be working towards Full Dyslexia Friendly Status.
We recognise that every student learns differently. By understanding individual learning preferences and using flexible, inclusive teaching approaches, we ensure all learners including those with dyslexia are able to access and enjoy the curriculum.
Across the school, we:
- Help students understand how they learn best and build their confidence as learners
- Present information clearly and in a variety of ways, revisiting key concepts regularly
- Adapt resources so they are accessible and supportive of individual needs
- Break learning down into clear, manageable steps
- Use a range of multi-sensory approaches to support understanding and memory
- Provide visual prompts and practical strategies to help students succeed
- Focus on strengths, celebrating achievements and building confidence
We also take care to ensure our learning materials and environments are supportive. This includes:
- Using clear fonts, well structured layouts, and simple language
- Organising information into small, manageable sections
- Reducing distractions and creating calm, well structured classrooms
- Using visual supports and prompts to encourage independence
- Ensuring classrooms are well-lit and conducive to learning
- Through these approaches, we aim to create a positive, inclusive environment where every student feels confident, supported, and able to succeed.
